INTASC: Principle 10 - Interpersonal Relationships
The teacher fosters relationships with school colleagues, parents, and agencies in the larger community to support students’ learning and well being.
Objective: Participants will acquire ideas for their own classrooms for Open House/Curriculum night.
Warm Up: Watch the short video entitled, Things You Learn Your 1st Year Teaching. http://youtu.be/qRnF_QyzV9U The video is only 1:53 long but you will reflect on it later in this module.
Agenda:
1. Read the article http://www.scholastic.com/teachers/top-teaching/2012/09/tips-stress-free-curriculum-night Make sure to click on the Invitation, Handbook: Classroom routines and procedures, curriculum information, PowerPoint, and parent survey which are links within the article to see some really great examples of already made products useful for Open House/Curriculum Night. You should spend about 10 minutes reading this article and browsing through the links.
2. Decide on one product you would like to create using Google Docs, Google Slides, or Google Forms, for Open House/Curriculum Night. You may want to use the pre-made templates and tweak them to your liking, or begin to design your own and tailor it to your classroom. Use this time to start creating something. You should spend about 25 minutes on this.
3. Fill out the Google Form and submit. This should take you about 10 minutes.
4. Fill out the Online Training Module Evaluation form. This should take you know more than 10 minutes.
