Graduate Credit Option for Mentors - 2017-18 School Year

Greetings. We are fortunate enough to have an exciting opportunity this year. Working with Learner's Edge, we are offering a three credit graduate class around Mentoring. We will be reading the book Mentoring In Action by Carol Pelletier. The New Educators will have the opportunity to get three credits by reading the companion book The First Year Matters. It would be great to get some mentor/new educator teams to do this together!
Graduate Credit Option for New Educators - 2017-18 School Year

Greetings. Welcome to Attleboro Public Schools. We would love to get you started in your career looking at some helpful resources as well as working you toward your next pay scale lane change! This year we are working with Learner's Edge in offering a three credit graudate class around the book The First Years Matter by Carol Pelletier. This is the companion book to Mentoring In Action that your mentor can read for credit. It would be wonderful if we could get some mentor/new educator teams to do this together!
The Requirements!
A course syllabus will be provided that has more detailed information for each requirement.
1. Read the approved text.
2. Create 10-12 guiding questions, each response should be roughly 2 paragraphs in length.
3. Meet at least four times with your book group for at least 1 hour per meeting –document your meeting
minutes. (I am assuming that these will be level based)
4. Complete 1 of 3 Application Options—see details in the syllabus
a. Mini-Unit/Project Creation, Implementation and Evaluation
b. Program Creation, Implementation and Evaluation
c. Staff Development Training
5. There is an additional “A” requirement option for the 3 credit registrant at the end of the course syllabus.
COST
The cost will be between $390.00 to $355.00 depending on how many people are interested. This is usually 100% reimbused by the district if it is your first request and you get the paperwork in on time.
We will be discussing this more at a meeting in September.
