Instructions: How to Observe a Classroom

Welcome to the Observation Module for Advanced Mentor Training

This should take you about an hour to do.  When you are done you will email the final reflection and you will then receive one PDP toward your Mentor Training status.

Agenda:
  • Read: What and how to look at a classroom.
  • Watch the video: Observation Protocol from RBT (if this link doesn't work sign in using [email protected] and the password Attleboro1!  )
  •            Handouts to look at while watching the video:
  •                     Determining Alignment of Objectives and Actions
  •                     How to Observe a Classroom
  •                     How to Observe a Classroom-Guidelines
  •                     Sample Notes

  • Reflection:  After you have watched the video and looked at the handouts please reflect upon what you just saw.  Type up a one page reflection (12 point font, double spaced) that addresses the following:
                         General Reaction to the video/worksheets
Plan of action for your next observation with your mentee (what will you use and how?)
If you are not currently mentoring, how does this help you think of your own classroom?
